Who built
the kit.

With over 16 years of experience, I work on strategy, direction and coordination of design for brands that need to communicate value clearly and relevantly.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with brands such as Vigor, Toddy, PepsiCo, Bauducco, Ajinomoto and Becel, within major agencies in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte.

designkit.tools was born from the same pain every designer knows: opening ten tabs to do one thing. I decided to build what I wished I had.

"Even a cow can have a brand. Design is strategy and responsibility."

Tools for designers who work with print.

Most online tools are built for web designers. designkit.tools was built for packaging designers, print designers, and anyone who produces files that leave the screen and land on a physical substrate.

The problems we solve are specific: a barcode that won't scan because the quiet zone was ignored. A file returned by the printer because the bleed was missing. A color approved on screen that arrived dull and flat after offset printing. An image used at 72 DPI when the process required 300. These are not hypothetical problems — they happen in every studio, on every production cycle.

All eight tools run entirely in your browser. No files are uploaded to any server. No account is required. No usage limits. The tools are free because the problems they solve are already expensive enough when they go wrong in production.

designkit.tools is made by a packaging designer with 16 years of production experience across major CPG brands. The tools reflect real workflows, not theoretical ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are designkit.tools tools really free?

Yes, completely. No trial period, no premium tier, no feature limits behind a paywall. All eight tools are fully functional at no cost and require no account creation. The site is supported by non-intrusive advertising, which keeps the tools free for everyone.

Do my files get uploaded to a server when I use these tools?

No. Every tool on designkit.tools processes files locally in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to any server. This means your packaging mockups, unreleased product artwork, and client files stay on your device at all times. It also means the tools work offline after the page has loaded.

What kind of designers use designkit.tools?

The tools are built primarily for packaging designers, graphic designers working in print production, and anyone involved in preparing files for offset, digital, or large-format printing. They are also useful for marketing professionals, e-commerce teams, and product managers who regularly handle artwork files and need quick technical checks without opening a full design application.

Which tool should I start with?

If you work with physical products sold in retail, start with the Barcode Generator — EAN-13 compliance is a hard requirement for distribution. If you regularly send files to print, the Bleed Calculator and Resolution Checker will prevent the most common and costly production errors. If you work with brand colors across print and digital, the Color Converter will save significant time at every handoff.

Can I use these tools for commercial projects?

Yes. The barcodes, QR codes, converted colors, and all other outputs from designkit.tools can be used freely in commercial work. The tools follow official technical specifications for each standard — EAN-13, QR Code, WCAG contrast ratios — and are suitable for files submitted to professional print production environments.

Designer's guide to print-ready files

A quick reference for the technical decisions that determine whether a file goes to press or comes back for correction.

Resolution: the 300 DPI rule

Any image placed in a print file must be at least 300 DPI at the final output size. This applies to product photos, background textures, and any raster element. Vector graphics (SVG, AI, EPS) are resolution-independent and do not follow this rule. Use the Resolution Checker to verify before sending.

Bleed: why 3mm is not optional

Every element that reaches the edge of a printed piece — background color, photo, pattern — must extend 3mm beyond the trim line. This accounts for mechanical cutting variation. Without bleed, the cut exposes the white paper substrate. Use the Bleed Calculator to get the exact dimensions for your document size.

Barcodes: what fails at the warehouse

EAN-13 barcodes fail distribution audits for three main reasons: insufficient quiet zone (blank space on the sides), poor contrast against the packaging background, and size reduction below 80% of the standard. Generate a technically correct barcode with the Barcode Generator and always test with a physical scanner on the final substrate before approving print.

Color: screen approval vs. print delivery

RGB colors approved on screen can shift significantly when converted to CMYK for print. Vibrant blues, saturated greens, and certain oranges are the most common problem colors. For brand-critical colors, request a physical proof from the printer before approving the full run. Use the Color Converter to preview the CMYK equivalent of any screen color.

Tools built from real design work

designkit.tools was created by a packaging and branding designer with over 16 years of experience working on major consumer brands. Every tool here was built to solve a specific problem that comes up in real professional design work — not a hypothetical one.

Barcode generators that don't export to SVG. Color converters that skip CMYK. Bleed calculators buried inside paid subscriptions. These are the gaps designkit.tools fills — with technically accurate tools, no account required, and no file ever leaving your browser.

Whether you're generating an EAN-13 for a packaging project, converting RGB to CMYK before sending files to print, or checking if an image is at 300 DPI — these tools give you the right answer without the friction.
